Carriers, 5G coverage and payments in Mali

Our Mali plans route via Orange. Coverage is reliable in major cities and tourist routes; remote areas may fall back to LTE — normal for the geography. Network technology supported: 4G LTE.

Most modern phones (iPhone XS+, Pixel 3+, Galaxy S20+) work out of the box. Carrier-locked phones from your home country may need an unlock before they accept a foreign eSIM.

All major cards work (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). Apple Pay, Google Pay, and crypto (USDT, BTC) all supported.

For business and remote-work travel: hotspot is enabled on every plan (tether a laptop, iPad, or multiple devices). VAT-compliant invoices on request. Multi-trip travelers can top up the same eSIM profile from any country.

decision guide

When does Mali eSIM make sense?

Three scenarios cover almost every Mali eSIM purchase. Match yours to pick the right plan.

  • Short trip (3-7 days), light data. Maps, WhatsApp, occasional photos. A 1 GB / 7 days plan at $11.90 covers it. Skip Daily Unlimited — overkill.

Frequently asked questions

Still stuck? Email support — we reply in under 10 minutes (in EN or RU).

Does the Mali eSIM work on iPhone and Android?+

Yes. Works on iPhone XS or later, Pixel 3 or later, Galaxy S20 or later, and most modern unlocked Androids. No physical SIM slot needed. Your phone connects to Orange once the eSIM activates in Mali.

How fast will I receive my eSIM after purchase?+

Within 60 seconds. The QR code is emailed automatically after Stripe confirms payment. You can install it immediately and activate when you land in Mali — first connection to Orange triggers activation.

Does this eSIM include voice calls and SMS?+

No. All plans are data-only — there are no voice minutes or SMS included. Use WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime, or other VoIP apps over the data connection.

Can I keep my home SIM active while using this?+

Yes. The eSIM installs as a secondary line. Your primary SIM stays active so you can still receive calls and SMS on your home number while using Mali eSIM for data.

What speed will I get in Mali?+

4G LTE nationwide. We route via Orange, which gives you the same coverage as a local resident's SIM. Remote areas and rural zones may fall back to LTE — normal for the geography, not an eSIM limit.

What happens when my data runs out?+

You can top up the same eSIM from your Simsimsim dashboard with another Mali plan, or buy a plan for a different country if you're moving on. The eSIM profile stays installed.

Is hotspot / tethering supported?+

Yes. All our Mali plans allow hotspot sharing to other devices (laptop, tablet, etc.) with no extra fees or speed throttle. Hotspot routes through Orange just like the phone itself.

What's the refund policy?+

Three tiers. (1) Never installed — 180 days full cash refund. If you never scanned the QR (trip cancelled, plans changed), money back to your card. (2) Installed but never activated — 30 days full cash refund after we verify zero usage. (3) Activated within 30 days — 100% Simsimsim credit (valid 12 months on any plan), cash refund unavailable after activation. Tech failure verified at any time: full refund plus $5 credit, no questions. See the full /refund page for details.

Can I expense this for business travel? VAT invoice?+

Yes — every order generates a receipt with line items suitable for expense reports. VAT-compliant invoices with your company VAT number are available on request inside the dashboard. See our business travel guide for invoicing, hotspot, and multi-device details.

Will hotspot tethering work for my laptop or tablet?+

Yes. Hotspot/tethering is enabled on every Mali plan with no per-device limit — connect a laptop, iPad, smart watch, or up to 10 devices simultaneously. Useful for remote workers and digital nomads who need a backup connection at unreliable hotel Wi-Fi.
